ABOUT IVS
What is IVS2026?
Innovation
Three days to accelerate it

Innovation
Three days to accelerate it
IVS is one of Japan’s largest startup conferences, launched in 2007. Startups, investors, major corporations, and creators from Japan and abroad gather in one place, and in 2026 it will be held in Kyoto under the theme “Japan is Back.”
This year, we are introducing two areas: the culmination edition of the “IVS” area—an evolution of IVS2023, IVS2024, and IVS2025 held in Kyoto (Kyoto City Kangyokan Miyakomesse and ROHM Theatre Kyoto)—and a newly established Reiwa-era, fully invitation-only IVS “IVS CORE” area (Hotel Okura Kyoto). The event will be held across these two areas.
IVS2026 will pursue “height” thoroughly.
The value of startups. The significance of taking on challenges. The appeal of being a founder. By showing these heights, we will encourage new players who aspire to them to enter the field. Building on the “breadth” we have cultivated by running IVS at the scale of 10,000 participants for three consecutive years, this year we move toward “height.”
IVS2026 is designed not as a place just to listen, but as a place to think, speak, and make decisions.
By the end of the three days, something inside you will have changed. The way you act from the next day onward will have changed.
We will create that kind of place.

"Why does Japan need startups?"
How many people, right now, can answer this question with conviction?

The startup bubble that once took the world by storm around 2020 has burst,
and since then, through rapid changes in the macro environment,
and structural changes in the growth environment for startups,
the environment surrounding startups may no longer be described as optimistic.

However, the entrepreneurial spirit of founders taking on challenges there has not disappeared.
Rather, through a major cycle of renewal, next-generation startups are emerging
on a foundation of the strengths of a "new Japanese style."
However, that does not mean the entrepreneurial spirit of those taking on challenges there today has disappeared.

Startups, in every era,
have been expected to act as agents of structural transformation against the backdrop of economic challenges and social demands.
In the modern age, startups are not merely innovators.
Going beyond market principles, they solve economic and social issues and elevate Japan’s presence in the international community
as they seek to be reborn as entities that can prove it once again.

In the modern age, startups are not merely innovators.
Going beyond market principles, they are seeking to reinvent themselves as entities that solve socioeconomic issues and once again demonstrate Japan’s presence to the international community.

Just as Japanese companies once proved their value to the world, let’s once again take the world by storm.
IVS2026 will prove the true value of Japanese startups to the world.

IVS CORE
at Hotel Okura
An invitation-only area where the key players shaping the future of Japanese startups gather.
Target: People who can shape the future of industry through their own decision-making.
This is a forum where leading executives and investors on the front lines of the industry gather to discuss the key agenda items for Japan’s startup ecosystem. What matters most is “what gets decided.” It is also a place where fundraising negotiations and decisions, as well as intercompany transactions, take place actively—creating tangible business value. Participants are expected to include startup executives who can shape the future of industry through their own decision-making; financial institutions, institutional investors, and asset owners; senior executives of major corporations and heads of operating companies; government and policy stakeholders; and researchers and members of academia.
